AMERICAN ODYSSEY DIRECTOR
David Barlow
PO Box 198
Landis, NC 28088
- Read the Interview questions found on the website and formulate a response to the questions in your mind.
- Once Dave receives your Application or knows of your interest, you will be sent a mailing to include brochures and other information to help recruit other participants.
- Each participant you can Sucessfully Recruit will result in a $50 reduction in your tuition.
American Odyssey is open to College students, Community College students, College-age young people, and Mature High School students. Generally most High School students are entering the Jr. or Sr. year of High School or just graduating although we have accepted a few Mature rising Sophomores. All participants must be least 14 years old. Any person wishing to attend American Odyssey Programs that will be 21 or older as of the date of the trip must apply as a Staff Member. Contact the Director directly if you are of age to be Staff.
- Set up a date and time for a Telephone Interview after Dave has received your Application and Letters of Recommendation.
- After the telephone interview, you will be sent an Acceptance Packet with all sorts of interesting goodies including; web sites to check out, reading list, medical form, press release, conditioning information, what to bring list, tour guide assignment, etc.
- You will know at the conclusion of the interview if you have been accepted. The primary reason for all of these checks, balances, and steps is to make sure that all persons accepted understand what we do, how we do it, why we call it an Odyssey, and that they are committed to making a big change in their life for the duration of the experience and beyond and understand how powerful an experience this can be.
- We also have a Zero Tolerance Policy for Alcohol, Tobacco, and any controlled substances and a No Fraternization Policy and we want to be sure you understand how these work and that you are willing to abide by them. We have had a good number of couples on AO trips and this has worked out very well.
- In the Spring of the year, usually after the Collegiate Spring Break we have a meeting in Landis for Participants and Parents to meet and greet and to go over any questions that may have surfaced. Usually it is a time for photo viewing, getting to know each other , equipment questions, final payments, turning in of Forms, and generally to get a feel for how the Crew will interact. With this Spring Meeting we Celebrate the beginning of the countdown to departure. Try to make every effort to attend this great part of the American Odyssey program.
I think that should cover it pretty well. The next step is to Print that Application!! There is a Great Big World out there waiting for you and I to explore it.
I want to read your Application and Letters of Recommendation!!!
Let's do the Interview and don't forget to
Recruit, Recruit, Recruit!!!!
