       FLORIDA ODYSSEY ITINERARY

Day 1   Leaving Landis, NC at 9:00 a.m. we travel rapidly south toward Daytona Beach.  This is a time of getting to know each other and to prepare for the rest of the trip.  We will make several interesting leg-stretching stops today.  Tonight we will camp near Titusville.

Day 2   We start our day with a short drive to Spaceport USA where we will tour Cape Kennedy and the Rocket Garden.  Then we're off to Cocoa Beach and Ron Jon's Surf Shop.  With some quality beach time this afternoon we will have a head start on our tans.  We drive to the Orlando area for  our campground tonight.

Day 3   Today and tonight is spent at the world famous  Disney World.  After meeting Mickey and the gang and seeing all the sights and sounds, we'll spend a second night in our campground as visions of the day whirl through our dreams.

Day 4   Today is another travel day as we move south along the coast.  Enroute to the Keys we stop at the Marine life Center to visit with the Sea turtles at Juno Beach.  Later we climb an historic lighthouse at Jupiter Beach.  Then on to Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and on to the Keys.  After a great campfire we will listen to the soft sea breezes as we sleep tonight.

Day 5   Rising early this morning we travel to into the Keys and board a large catamaran for a tour of the beautiful coral reefs in this area.  Snorkeling with our flippers and masks we will get much closer to the sea life and really experience the wonders of the sea.  Then it's on toward the Everglades and Alligator Alley where we will tour the Everglades by Airboat.  Then it's on toward Sanibel and Captiva Islands.  The Water Taxi will take us to our campground tonight.  We will stay  on a small island in the Gulf of Mexico.  We will add many shells to our collections here for this area is known the world over for it's exquisite shells.

Day 6   Riding the water taxi back to Captiva Island we board the bus for the Shell Factory in North Fort Myers.  After our tour and souvenir shopping we will travel to Homosassa Springs State Park to see the Manatees from the glass bottomed boats and the underwater walkways.  Our campsite tonight will be in  or near the Ocala National Forest.

Day 7   Homeward bound.  Packing our fruit and souvenirs as we leave the Sunshine State we will realize that our week in the sun has been more than just a chance to work on our tan and to meet new friends.  We will see that this Odyssey that we undertook has led us to a deeper understanding of ourselves and our great nation.  It is a new beginning to our year as well as to a deeper understanding of ourselves.
